Dr. Charles Roman is a veteran and health care professional, who serves as CEO at Roman Medical Group. A passionate advocate for caring, compassionate health care, Dr. Charles Roman started his practice in 2002. He maintains affiliation with the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).

The AOA is a national professional organization that provides resources for osteopathic physicians and students, funds research efforts in the industry, and encourages advocacy for osteopathic issues. The organization was originally founded in 1896, with only a small group of doctors. Today it is the base for hundreds of thousands of members.

As part of its advocacy efforts, AOA each year hosts Advocacy for Healthy Partnerships, a series of conferences available to interested parties who wish to better prepare themselves to advocate for patients and the osteopathic practice. Advocacy for Healthy Partnerships gives members training in contemporary health issues in society, tips and advice for meeting with legislators and policymakers, and general know-how of advocating. Getting his start in medicine through the ministry field, Dr. Charles Roman decided he wanted to dedicate his time to private practice. To that end, he founded the Roman Medical Group to provide quality care for those living in the Columbus, Georgia area. Dr. Charles Roman has been chief executive officer at the practice since 2000.

The Roman Medical Group is a state-of-the-art facility that provides patents with the most up-to-date technology for convenience and ease. The clinic features on-site X-ray equipment as well as a complete lab and ancillary services. Other devices include a Dexa Scan machine, which allows patients to quickly learn if they have osteoporosis.

The American College of Physicians (ACP) recently announced its efforts at promoting immunization awareness among adults. To this end, they have dubbed August to be National Immunization Month each year, and will use the time to encourage adults to consult with their doctors concerning the need for updated vaccinations and/or immunizations.

Adults should make sure to get either an inactive or recombinant flu vaccine each year, according to the ACP. They should also talk to their doctor about any other needed vaccinations, such as tetanus shots, whooping cough vaccine, shots that help protect against pneumonia and meningitis, and the HPV vaccine.
